The first board consisted of Oliver Missbach (president), Bernd Foitzik (co-president and treasurer) and Josef Fürmeier (secretary). The club was member of the German Aeroclub (cancelled membership later) and offered members services such as insurance, regular meetings and flights, club equipment and a library. Members joined together to visit events all over Europe and the MMV had a regular presence on local and nationwide model aviation fairs. For a couple of years, the MMV published a newsletter called Countdown which was later transformed into a nationwide rocketry magazine.
